The psychology of people who spread false information

There is a psychology that can be seen from a spiritual perspective regarding people who spread rumors. Here, the discussion is not about whether it is truly a rumor or not.

This is because it is often unclear whether something is genuinely a rumor.

In the past, there was an incident in which a story about a tiger escaping from a zoo spread. This is something that could actually happen, so it is not surprising that some people believed it.

Rumors tend to spread especially easily when the topic could affect one’s own life or safety.

For example, rumors about vaccinations also spread because they involve matters related to life and health.

Extremely speaking, it is not an exaggeration to say that a sense of presence equals pleasure. When one feels happiness, one can simultaneously experience a strong sense of presence and strong pleasure.

Not being able to feel one’s presence is not just about lacking that feeling. The human body and mind influence each other, and when this balance is off, stress can easily arise as a perceived threat to life.

A stress response places a person in a state of either attack or escape toward the source of stress. Both options require energy and can generate energy within the mind and body.

From this perspective, the psychology of people who spread rumors can be seen as a way of releasing this stress energy.

There is also the idea that having companions rather than being alone can help one cope with stress more effectively. This psychological need for others can create conditions in which rumors spread more easily.

Furthermore, when a person feels that they are sharing important information with others, it can give a sense of purpose and a sense of pleasure from feeling that their role is meaningful.

Regarding the growth of the soul—something frequently discussed in this blog—gaining knowledge is a process of incremental awareness, just as spiritual growth (or the growth of one’s spirit) is built on successive insights from the heart.

A high spiritual level strengthens one’s presence in a mental sense, enhances the capacity to enrich the hearts of others, and broadens one’s perspective as one gains more awareness. This is not a difficult concept—it is simply the process of maturing spiritually.

Conversely, a low spiritual level means weaker presence, prioritizing one’s own satisfaction over fulfilling others’ hearts, and having fewer insights, which narrows one’s perspective. Again, this is not complicated; it is a state of spiritual immaturity.

When spiritual presence is low, the mind is more prone to stress, which can manifest as the spreading of rumors. With a narrow perspective, there is less ability to discern whether the information is accurate or not.

Regarding spiritual sensitivity: it exists in everyone. Ghosts have consciousness, higher-dimensional beings have consciousness, and people have consciousness. Spiritual sensitivity is the ability to sense the hearts of others.

All hearts are ultimately interconnected, and this extends to the spiritual world, the realm of consciousness. For example, when shaking hands with someone, you may perceive a unique personal aura—that is a small operation of spiritual sensitivity.

If one’s spiritual level is high, one may perceive information from those with lower spiritual levels within this interconnected heart-space.

Japanese education tends to value only incremental knowledge, often neglecting the growth of the heart, or spiritual growth. This may result in more people with low spiritual presence, which could, in turn, make the psychology of people who spread rumors more likely to emerge.
