School rules! Spiritual
School rules! Spiritual
Let’s talk about school rules! From a spiritual perspective, there’s an interesting discussion to be had. Recently, Yahoo! News published an article reporting that some students challenged school rules in court, arguing that they have no legal binding power.
Thinking about school rules from a spiritual angle brings up some thought-provoking ideas. I’d like to share them here.
By the way, what do you think about school rules? Some aspects, such as rules about uniforms, may or may not strictly count as “rules,” but they still influence how students experience school life.
From my own experience, I attended a school with uniforms until the fourth grade. After transferring to a new school, there were no uniforms at all.
Reflecting on these experiences, I noticed that wearing a uniform created a clear separation between learning and personal life. The moment I took off my uniform, I instinctively shifted into play mode. This simple act of changing clothes marked a mental and energetic transition—from study to leisure—which carries its own spiritual significance.
At the school without uniforms, this separation between study and play was simply taken for granted, and I felt a sense of freedom, as if the weight I had carried was lifted.
It’s hard to say which approach is “better.” At the school with uniforms, however, I developed a personal sense of discipline that stayed with me.
In Japan, as an agrarian society, people tend to conform to those around them, and the approach to school rules may stem from this cultural tendency.
Interestingly, in some schools in Southeast Asia that adopted Japanese-style uniforms, positive effects were observed among the children. This shows that the impact of uniforms can vary greatly depending on cultural context, making it a complex issue shaped by differing values.
Regarding school rules, “feminine energy” and “spirituality”
Looking at school rules from the perspective of feminine energy and spirituality, we can see that these forces may also influence this issue.
Spiritually, it is said that the overall energy of the Earth is gradually shifting from masculine-dominant energy to feminine-dominant energy. This is not a sudden switch like flipping a light on or off; rather, it is a gradual shift, much like the relationship between the sun and the moon, affecting the entire planet regardless of gender.
Feminine energy is still in its early stages. The mental energy of young women often contains opposing forces—joy and sorrow, anger and tenderness. In society, this can manifest as polarization, contradictions, and sudden reversals, appearing like waves.
Men tend to control and suppress their emotional energy, making them physically and mentally rigid, whereas women tend to release and manage their emotional energy outward, remaining soft and flexible. Change happens more easily where flexibility exists, and the era we are entering is one of rapid transformation, driven by feminine energy.
Masculine energy tends to place value on the visible and material, while feminine energy values the invisible world of the heart.
Thus, the cultural attitudes toward school rules and uniforms are rooted in masculine-dominant energy—emphasizing control and visible, material value. As feminine energy rises, these perspectives may increasingly come under social scrutiny, becoming topics of debate and potential transformation.
Regarding school rules, “spiritual growth” and “spirituality”
When it comes to school rules, there is a thought-provoking perspective from spirituality and the growth of the soul.
As I have often discussed in this blog, the growth of knowledge occurs one insight at a time, and similarly, the growth of the heart—what can be called spiritual maturity—is also made up of small awakenings of awareness.
When spiritual maturity is high, a person’s presence in the world grows stronger. Their creative ability to enrich others increases, and the more inner awakenings they have, the wider their perspective on life becomes. This is not a difficult concept—it is simply what it means to become an “adult” in a spiritual sense.
Conversely, low spiritual maturity means weaker presence. People tend to prioritize their own satisfaction over fulfilling the hearts of others, and with fewer inner awakenings, their perspective on life remains narrow. Spiritually, this is akin to being a “child.”
Each awakening in the growth of the heart often brings a new awareness of values, opening the door to fresh perspectives. Feminine energy plays an important role in this process, guiding spiritual growth and helping the heart develop.
School rules and uniforms, however, can sometimes act as forces that suppress new ways of thinking. From a spiritual standpoint, they may inadvertently obstruct the growth of spiritual maturity.
In practice, it’s difficult to say which approach is better. In my personal experience, at schools with uniforms, bullying was virtually nonexistent. In contrast, at schools without uniforms, I encountered bullying for the first time—an experience that left a strong impression on me.
Feminine energy does not provide absolute answers. It can bring about polarization precisely because there is no single correct solution. From a spiritual perspective, this tension between extremes may itself reflect the influence of feminine energy in society.
