The Possibility of a Major Earthquake: A Spiritual Perspective

Let me share some thoughts on the possibility of a major earthquake from a spiritual point of view. Recently, there was a relatively strong quake in the Tohoku region of Japan.

On a site known as The Mysterious Detective Agency, contributors who monitor magnetic shifts in the atmosphere have been warning of the possibility of an even larger quake to come.

It may be that this year carries the potential for a truly significant earthquake, which means it could be wise to prepare ourselves mentally as well as practically.

The well-known spiritual figure Hiroyuki Ehara spoke at the end of last year about the coming year’s spiritual trends. The keyword he received for this year was “cracks.”

This was not a prediction formed solely by his own imagination. Rather, Ehara explained it as a message he received from the spiritual world—something he felt compelled to share with people as guidance.

Hiroyuki Ehara has said that he usually receives messages from the spiritual world about once a year. However, he noted that recently these messages have begun arriving more frequently—sometimes every three months.

The word “cracks” seems to be the theme for this year. On the global stage, the war in Ukraine—Russia’s invasion under President Putin—can certainly be seen as a crack in the world’s peaceful order.

In Japan, the recent earthquake in the Tohoku region left cracks along the Shinkansen railway lines. Spiritually speaking, this too may be only the beginning, just the opening chapter of larger events yet to come.

From a spiritual perspective, the possibility of major earthquakes occurring in various regions remains high.

The possibility of a major earthquake, “feminine energy,” and “spirituality”

The possibility of a major earthquake, “feminine energy,” and “spirituality”

From a spiritual perspective, the rising possibility of major earthquakes can be linked to the shift in Earth’s overall energy—from predominantly masculine energy to increasingly feminine energy.

This shift is not sudden, like flipping a black-and-white switch. Rather, it is gradual, like the relationship between the sun and the moon, influencing the entire planet regardless of gender.

Feminine energy is still in its early stages. At this stage, the emotional energy of a nascent feminine force can fluctuate between opposites—joy and sorrow, anger and compassion. Such dualities tend to manifest in society as polarization, contradictions, sudden policy reversals, and wave-like instability.

Men tend to suppress and contain their emotional energy, making both mind and body rigid. Women, by contrast, tend to express and release their emotional energy outward, making mind and body more flexible. Because change happens more easily in a flexible system than a rigid one, this marks the beginning of an era characterized by rapid and intense transformations—driven by feminine energy.

This soft, outward-reaching energy is also likely to manifest in natural phenomena such as major earthquakes or floods.

For those familiar with spiritual perspectives, this pattern appears inevitable. Yet for many who are unaware, such changes may naturally provoke anxiety, confusion, or uncertainty.

The possibility of a major earthquake, spiritual growth, and spirituality

From a spiritual standpoint, the possibility of major earthquakes can be connected to the growth of the soul and, at times, may appear almost like a mystical or superstitious lesson.

For instance, a comment on Yahoo! News expressed anger toward nature. Indeed, the natural world is filled with countless forms of life, many of which suffer as a result of human activity.

As I have discussed many times on this blog, the growth of the soul mirrors intellectual growth: just as knowledge expands through individual insights, spiritual maturity—or the growth of the heart—develops through each moment of realization.

When spiritual maturity is high, one’s presence and influence in the world become stronger. Such individuals can create experiences that fulfill others’ hearts, and their breadth of insight allows them to perceive life from a wider perspective. In simple terms, this is the spiritual equivalent of becoming a true “adult.”

By contrast, when spiritual maturity is low, a person’s presence is weak. They tend to prioritize satisfying their own desires over enriching the hearts of others, and their limited insights narrow their perspective. Spiritually speaking, this is more akin to being a “child.”

People with low spiritual maturity are more susceptible to stress and a heightened need for validation or existential presence. This can manifest socially as harmful behaviors, such as verbal abuse, child abuse, bullying, emotional manipulation, toxic parenting, stalking, and even violent crime.

If large numbers of people exhibit low spiritual maturity, there is a risk—even extreme—that the natural order itself could be destabilized. From a spiritual perspective, major earthquakes can occur as a corrective force when humanity’s collective heart is disturbed.

Interestingly, after such events, bonds among people often strengthen. In this sense, a major earthquake may also serve as a mechanism to restore human connection and solidarity.
