“Family Breakdown”! “Low Spiritual Level”! A Spiritual Perspective

From a spiritual perspective, one of the underlying causes of family breakdown can be traced to a low spiritual level.

Currently, there may be factors that make family breakdown more likely to occur.

However, due to the impact of COVID-19, economic activities have weakened compared to the past, making it more difficult for family members to move away or change jobs.

If COVID-19 subsides and economic activity increases, this could become a trigger for family breakdown to become more likely.

First, the psychologist Freud proposed the pleasure principle, stating that whether a person eats, sleeps, or relieves themselves, some degree of pleasure is always experienced, and humans naturally seek this pleasure.

In an extreme sense, one could say that “a sense of existence” = “pleasure”, meaning that when a person feels happiness, they simultaneously experience a strong sense of existence and strong pleasure.

Not being able to feel this sense of existence does not only mean lacking that feeling; the human body and mind influence each other, and a stress response can easily arise as a result, sometimes even perceived as a threat to life.

A stress response places a person in a choice between attack or avoidance toward the source of stress. Either way, energy is required, and this energy is also generated within the mind and body.

In other words, the cause of family breakdown can be understood as a lack of, or loss of, a sense of existence. This generates stress, which may lead to conflict if expressed as attack, or separation if expressed as avoidance, making family breakdown more likely to occur.

“Family breakdown” and “low spiritual level”: the cause is “spirituality.”

The causes of family breakdown and low spiritual rank can also be understood from a spiritual perspective.

As discussed many times on this blog, the growth of the soul involves learning and accumulating knowledge, where each piece of knowledge represents a new awareness, and similarly, the growth of the heart—spiritual rank—also arises from each individual awareness from the heart.

When one’s spiritual rank is high, their existential presence strengthens in a spiritual sense, their creativity to fulfill others’ hearts increases, and the more awareness they have, the broader their perspective becomes. This is not a difficult concept—it simply means maturing spiritually.

Conversely, when one’s spiritual rank is low, their spiritual existential presence is weak. They tend to prioritize the desire to fulfill their own heart over fulfilling the hearts of others, and with fewer awarenesses, their perspective becomes narrower. Again, this is not difficult to understand—it reflects being spiritually immature.

When spiritual rank is low, existential presence is weak, stress arises more easily, and the energy to seek a sense of existence can manifest in harmful behaviors in society, such as slander, child abuse, bullying, “monster” behavior, toxic parenting, stalking, and violent crimes.

If many people with low spiritual rank appear, in extreme cases, even the natural world on this Earth could be at risk of collapse.

In societies dominated by people of low spiritual rank, family breakdowns tend to occur more frequently.

Within families of those whose priority is fulfilling their own heart over others’—people of low spiritual rank—who is there to truly fulfill the hearts of others?

From a spiritual perspective, the combination of family breakdown, low spiritual rank, and the rise of feminine-dominant energy can make such situations more likely to manifest.

In spiritual teachings, it is said that the overall energy of the Earth is gradually shifting from male-dominant energy to female-dominant energy.

This shift is not sudden like flipping a black-and-white switch, but gradual, like the relationship between the Sun and the Moon, affecting the entire planet regardless of gender.

The female-dominant energy is still in its early stages. The immature feminine energy tends to exhibit contrasting emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure—which can manifest in society as polarization, contradictions, sudden reversals of decisions, and waves of change.

Men tend to suppress and control their mental energy, making their mind and body rigid, while women tend to express and release their mental energy outward, making their mind and body more flexible.

Change occurs more easily in flexibility than rigidity, and this era marks the beginning of a highly transformative period driven by female-dominant energy.

Female-dominant energy also tends to encourage people to expose their hearts. For those with low spiritual rank, this energy can ignite their inner fire, making family breakdowns more likely to occur on a latent level.
