The Reiwa era! God's wrath? Spirituality
From a spiritual perspective, one might notice that society has experienced intense and rapid changes since the beginning of Japan’s Reiwa era.
Spiritual teachings suggest that even the kanji of “Reiwa” carries deeper meaning.
The character “令” is derived from an ancient pictograph depicting people kneeling to receive divine commands, symbolizing submission to higher wisdom. Meanwhile, “和” represents harmony spreading among people. Together, “Reiwa” can be seen as a period where divine guidance and harmony flow through society.
When the Reiwa era name was first announced, left-leaning opposition parties strongly opposed it. This opposition can be understood spiritually as a reaction to the reference to the emperor, evoking associations with Japan’s militaristic past.
The Japanese spiritual teacher, Hiroyuki Ehara, has shared that the kanji for “Reiwa” carries no negative meaning. He suggests that it represents a time when higher-dimensional beings communicate messages to humanity, potentially raising awareness and consciousness about these higher realms.
However, from the perspective of Eastern yin-yang philosophy, the characters can also be interpreted as “yang-yin,” implying a separation of energies. This can symbolize collapse, polarization, and division, phenomena that naturally tend to arise. While these aspects are not ideally desirable, from a spiritual viewpoint, they are considered inevitable and part of the era’s unfolding.
The Reiwa era, divine wrath, “feminine energy,” and “spirituality”
From a spiritual viewpoint, the Reiwa era can be seen as reflecting a shift in the Earth’s overall energy—from a male-dominant energy to a gradually emerging female-dominant energy.
This transformation is not sudden, like flipping a switch, but gradual, similar to the cycles of the sun and moon. It affects the planet as a whole, regardless of gender.
The female-dominant energy is still in its early stages. The mental and emotional energy of young women tends to display opposing forces, such as joy and anger, which can manifest socially as polarization, contradictions, abrupt policy changes, or wave-like fluctuations.
Men generally tend to suppress and control their mental energy, making them more rigid physically and mentally. Women, on the other hand, are more likely to release and express their energy outward, resulting in greater flexibility of mind and body.
Change occurs more easily in a flexible rather than rigid state, and thus, this era marks the beginning of a time of intense transformation driven by female-dominant energy.
As the influence of male-dominant energy diminishes, suppressed forces may emerge, including conflicts and wars, which are indeed occurring in the world today.
From this perspective, one can also consider the example of Japanese Shinto, where the highest-ranking deity, Amaterasu, is female—aligning with the concept of rising feminine energy.
Male-dominant energy tends to value tangible, visible things, while female-dominant energy emphasizes the invisible, inner world of the mind and heart.
The Reiwa era, divine wrath, spiritual growth, and spirituality
From a spiritual perspective, the Reiwa era can be seen as a time of significant events related to divine guidance, soul growth, and spiritual awareness.
While many may have believed previous eras to be peaceful, from a global viewpoint, this is not necessarily the case. For example, in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, a devastating landslide occurred, and some suggest that the installation of solar panels may have contributed to it.
As I have discussed repeatedly on this blog, the growth of knowledge is built on individual moments of awareness, and similarly, spiritual growth—what can be called the “growth of the soul”—arises from each inner realization.
When one’s spiritual level is high, their mental presence strengthens, their capacity to nurture others’ hearts increases, and their perspective broadens with every insight they gain. This is not a difficult concept—it simply represents becoming “spiritually mature.”
Conversely, a low spiritual level reflects weaker inner strength. People tend to prioritize satisfying their own desires over uplifting others, and their limited awareness narrows their perspective. Spiritually, this can be seen as a form of “childlike” consciousness.
During eras dominated by male-oriented energy, awareness of the heart was often limited. People with low spiritual levels—focused more on their own fulfillment than others—were more likely to appear, and such attitudes may have contributed to natural disasters and societal imbalances.
Now, with the rise of female-oriented energy, awareness of the heart and consciousness is increasing. Spiritual growth occurs more readily as individuals gain insight from each inner realization. In the Reiwa era, events that may appear as divine warnings or manifestations of “God’s wrath” are likely to occur, prompting society to awaken spiritually.
