The necessity of spirituality
The necessity of spirituality
Many people today may feel that spirituality is not necessary for their own lives.
In an era where individual free will is highly respected, it is often thought that there is nothing wrong with living freely, as long as one does not harm others.
Spirituality is not something that should be imposed on anyone. However, from a spiritual perspective, a society that lacks spiritual values could potentially face unfavorable consequences.
One might wonder whether the way people live today truly represents the “right” way of being.
Certainly, everyone has their own values, and living according to one’s personal beliefs is not inherently wrong. However, issues such as child abuse also stem from certain value systems, and there may be those who, disturbingly, justify such behavior.
In the ancient city-state of Sparta, for example, infants were reportedly thrown into a valley, and only those who survived the fall were accepted as citizens.
Based on such harsh values, Sparta eventually became a dominant power among neighboring states. From the Spartan perspective, the concept of spirituality may have seemed entirely unnecessary.
Yet in today’s world, can we honestly consider such value systems to be truly “correct”?
The necessity of “spirituality” and “soul growth”
When discussing the necessity of spirituality, it is closely linked to the concept of “soul growth.”
As this blog has mentioned repeatedly, the growth of knowledge comes from individual realizations—small moments of insight. Similarly, spiritual growth, or the development of one’s inner character, comes from these moments of awareness within the heart.
As one’s spiritual level rises, their personal presence and influence increase, their creative ability to uplift others grows, and their perspective on the world broadens with each new insight. This is not a complicated concept; it simply means “maturing” spiritually.
Conversely, a low spiritual level indicates weaker personal presence and a tendency to prioritize one’s own desires over helping others. With fewer inner insights, one’s perspective narrows—essentially remaining “childlike” in a spiritual sense.
Low spiritual levels can also manifest socially through stress and a need for recognition, which may result in harmful behaviors such as bullying, abuse, harassment, toxic parenting, violent crime, and other negative impacts on society.
Extremely, if many individuals with low spiritual awareness prevail, even the natural balance of the Earth could be threatened.
In particular, Japan’s education system tends to focus heavily on intellectual insights alone. While this does not apply to everyone, it can weaken attention to emotional and spiritual insights, increasing the likelihood of individuals with low spiritual levels.
A high spiritual level encourages active, proactive energy, whereas a low spiritual level often leads to passivity.
Economic growth relies on the proactive ability to fulfill others’ needs. Without the influence of spirituality, Japan’s economy, in extreme terms, could face stagnation or decline.
The necessity of “spirituality,” the future, and “feminine energy”
From a spiritual perspective, the future necessity of spirituality is closely connected to the increasing influence of feminine energy.
Spiritual teachings suggest that the overall energy of the Earth is gradually shifting from a predominantly masculine energy toward a more feminine-dominant energy.
This shift is not sudden, like flipping a light switch. Instead, it unfolds gradually, like the relationship between the sun and the moon, influencing the entire planet regardless of gender.
Men tend to restrain and control their mental energy, making them more rigid physically and emotionally. Women, by contrast, are more likely to release and express their energy outwardly, which fosters flexibility both mentally and physically.
Change occurs more easily in flexibility than rigidity. The current era, driven by feminine-dominant energy, marks the beginning of a time of rapid and unpredictable change.
Masculine energy often values tangible, material things, while feminine energy increasingly emphasizes the invisible world of the heart and spirit.
From a spiritual perspective, the historical dominance of masculine energy has encouraged a focus on material values, which may explain why many people previously felt spirituality was unnecessary.
Looking ahead, the rise of feminine-dominant energy could increase the importance of spirituality, and humanity may face challenging events that act as catalysts for this spiritual awakening.
