Next, the difference in lifespan between men and women! From a spiritual perspective, there is a tendency for differences to appear.

It is often said that women live longer, and this is by no means just a perception.

First, consider the basic psychological differences between men and women. Men tend to want to be aware of things rather than to be noticed, while women tend to want to be noticed rather than to be aware. Ideally, these opposing tendencies attract each other like magnets, making it more likely for men and women to be drawn together.

Men, in general, tend to focus more on their own hobbies, work, and the visible reality, while also wanting to be aware of women.

Women, on the other hand, are more inclined than men to enhance their own value in order to be noticed, and they tend to pay more attention to the state of their own hearts as they are perceived.

In terms of love and relationships, this aligns with the idea that women are observant of men, which can help in understanding and accepting these tendencies.

Next, although not an absolute statement, women tend to have a stronger desire to enhance their own value and greater awareness of their own hearts, and their inclination to seek connection with others often appears stronger than in men.

As a result, even as they age, women are more likely to form fulfilling human relationships, which may contribute to their longer lifespan.

Originally, the desire in women to enhance their value is often related to seeking a partner for marriage, but as they grow older, this desire may extend beyond the opposite sex to include seeking meaningful connections with the same sex as well.

There is a saying: “Men live in the past; women live in the future.”

Men tend to lean toward rationality, using past information to compare with the present in order to find the best answer. At first glance, this may seem beneficial, but if it works negatively, men may become overly focused on past events, losing sight of the present and future.

This reduced adaptability to the present may contribute to a shorter lifespan in men.

As I have discussed many times on this blog, the growth of the soul—spiritual development—occurs through each individual realization, just as knowledge grows through each new insight. Spiritual growth (reikaku) is similarly achieved through one realization after another of the heart.

When reikaku is high, a person’s spiritual presence increases, their creative ability to fulfill others’ hearts grows, and their perspective expands with every new insight. This is not a complex idea—it is about becoming spiritually mature.

Conversely, when reikaku is low, spiritual presence is weak, people tend to prioritize fulfilling their own hearts over others’, and with fewer insights, their perspective is narrower. This is not a complex idea either—it is about being spiritually childlike.

Men tend to have weaker awareness of their hearts, and generally, men with low spiritual growth—spiritually childlike men—are more common.

Women, however, have higher awareness of their hearts, and each insight from the heart can raise their reikaku, increasing spiritual presence and allowing them to manifest as spiritually mature adults.

From this perspective, men are more likely to have shorter lifespans, while women tend to live longer, reflecting this spiritual and relational advantage.

However, this is only a general tendency, not an absolute rule.

Currently, with increasing awareness of gender equality—especially in Japan—women tend to seek equality in roles traditionally held by men.

This may inadvertently increase aggressive male hormones in women, potentially raising the risk of breast and uterine cancer.

For example, Okinawa was famous for longevity, but as a car-dependent society, movement tends to be limited, and obesity among women is relatively common.

These factors have altered Okinawa’s status as the top longevity region, so it cannot be definitively said that women will always live longer.
