Why can't psychic abilities be proven scientifically?
Why can't psychic abilities be proven scientifically?
Next, why spiritual intuition (reikan) cannot be proven by science. From a spiritual perspective, the science possessed by modern humanity is unable to prove spiritual intuition.
Not everyone, but many people tend to have a strong faith in science, believing that anything that cannot be proven scientifically does not exist and should not be accepted.
By this logic, one would need a premise that everything can be explained if one possesses science in advance.
This is an unavoidable topic, and it is worth touching on.
First, it is important to clarify a common misunderstanding about spiritual intuition.
Spiritual intuition is something everyone inherently possesses. Ghosts have minds, higher-dimensional beings have minds, and humans have minds — and spiritual intuition is the ability to sense those minds.
Moreover, there is a perspective that all human hearts are fundamentally connected, and beyond that, they are connected to the spiritual world, the realm of the heart.
Spiritual intuition, for example, can be experienced when shaking hands with someone: you might sense a unique personal atmosphere. This is a small manifestation of spiritual intuition, the ability to sense another’s mind.
Many people are unaware of this. Furthermore, sources that deal with spiritual content often describe spiritual intuition as a special ability, so it is understandable that people may believe they themselves lack it.
The left and right hemispheres of the brain function differently. The left brain is skilled at language construction, logical reasoning, calculations, and comparisons — in other words, it excels at recognizing the visible, tangible world, and tends toward scientific or analytical functions.
The right brain, on the other hand, is adept at musical rhythm, recognition through imagery, intuition, and sensing overall atmosphere — in other words, it excels at perceiving the invisible world of the mind and tends toward humanities-oriented functions.
In other words, spiritual intuition is also a function of the right brain.
The physical brain exists in the material world, and whether spiritual intuition is active might theoretically be investigated scientifically.
However, the mind itself exists in the realm of the heart and is not a material entity in the physical world, so it cannot be fully explained scientifically.
Scientific explanation is limited to material phenomena. To explain the mind scientifically, one would first have to prove that the mind is material.
It is understandable to question whether spiritual intuition can be scientifically explained. Humans have a natural desire to understand the unknown, and much of what has been studied scientifically arises from this desire. Therefore, some may attempt to investigate spiritual intuition using science as a tool.
Philosophically, there is a related question: does the mind create matter, or does matter create the mind?
Many people might assume that matter creates the mind.
However, if we consider human-made artifacts, we might reason that the mind creates these artifacts, not the other way around. This applies to all phenomena: natural products cannot exist without first having a mind.
This perspective suggests that the mind uses science as a tool to study the visible, material world, but science itself cannot perceive the mind.
Thus, the current science of humanity cannot fully explain spiritual intuition.
However, if there exists a world of higher-dimensional beings, and if science exists there, it might be possible to scientifically explain human spiritual intuition using that higher-level science.
In any case, most people misunderstand spiritual intuition. It remains an unknown realm — so undeveloped that even a child who has not yet reached first grade would not comprehend it. Consequently, scientific explanation of spiritual intuition will not occur anytime soon.
