Male Victims of Stalking: Differences Between Men and Women

Even though stalking can affect both men and women, there are differences in how it manifests between the genders. Psychologically, it is difficult to say which gender is more likely to experience it, but there are specific reasons why stalking incidents involving women may occur more frequently.

First, considering the basic differences between male and female psychology: men tend to want to notice others more than they want to be noticed themselves, whereas women tend to want to be noticed more than they want to notice others. Ideally, these opposing tendencies naturally attract each other, like magnets, making it more likely for men and women to form relationships.

Men generally focus on their own hobbies, work, and the visible, tangible aspects of the real world, which draws their attention outward.

Women, on the other hand, are often more concerned with enhancing their own value in order to be noticed, and they pay greater attention to their own hearts and feelings as they relate to being perceived.

From a perspective related to matters of the heart and romance, this tendency is often directed toward women. Understanding this difference may help explain certain dynamics in stalking behaviors and why they appear differently between men and women.

Male and Female Stalking: Psychological and Spiritual Perspectives

Male stalking tends to arise from a desire to be aware of or pay attention to a particular person.

Female stalking, on the other hand, often arises from a desire to be noticed by a man for whom she has feelings. Psychologically, women need someone to pay attention to them, which can make them more likely to exhibit stalking behaviors.

However, women also want to be perceived as valuable. As a result, their stalking behavior is often accompanied by an internal sense of restraint, because they are aware that such actions could diminish their perceived value.

For male victims of stalking, men generally have many things in the world to focus on. By concentrating on hobbies or other interests, they can create mental space to escape from the emotional impact of the stalking. This compartmentalization allows men to often resolve these situations internally, and male victims rarely involve the police.

Female victims, however, experience stalking in a way that threatens their perceived value. To protect themselves and regain a sense of safety, women are more likely to report the incident to the authorities. Consequently, female stalking cases tend to receive greater public attention, while male victims are often underestimated or overlooked.

From a spiritual perspective, as discussed in this blog, the growth of knowledge is linked to small realizations, and similarly, spiritual growth—or the development of one’s soul—occurs through awareness of the heart.

When one’s spiritual level increases, one’s presence and influence grow, the ability to fulfill the hearts of others strengthens, and one gains a broader perspective on life. This is not a complex topic—it simply refers to emotional and mental maturity.

Conversely, low spiritual development reflects a weaker presence, where one prioritizes satisfying one’s own heart over understanding others. With fewer insights into the heart, one’s perspective narrows. In simple terms, low spiritual development corresponds to a more “childlike” emotional state.

Stalkers, regardless of gender, often exhibit low spiritual development, prioritizing their own emotional satisfaction over others’. However, when women have low spiritual development, this tendency tends to manifest more strongly, sometimes creating situations that fall outside conventional social norms.

For example, male stalking rarely reaches the extremes sometimes seen in female-related cases. One notable story involves the entertainer Nishino, whose fan reportedly submitted a marriage registration form on his behalf—an action far beyond what is typical in male stalking incidents.
